Cars and Counselling
Think of your mental health as similar to maintaining a car – you get what you put in! Many people understand the importance of taking care of their physical body. They eat right, they work out regularly and try to stay active. But when it comes to their mental health or emotional intelligence, they do not put any work into it. Our brain is a special gift, and it is important that we give it the care that it deserves. Imagine buying a Lamborghini but then not using premium gas… or taking it in for oil changes or regular maintenance. Sounds silly right? And yet our brain has a massive impact on the way we behave and how we interact with others!
Think of counselling like a mechanical check-up for your mental health. Therapists can help you take a look “under the hood” and figure out if there is something that you would like to improve on. Most of the time, some tinkering is needed. Sometimes, a lot more!
